Roman names are so complicated! The names were a stumbling block at first (the first 80 pages or so!), but I did finally get it straight. I enjoyed the last 2/3 of the book and really liked the ending. The last sentence is a zinger!

I very much enjoyed this, a fun read and interesting take on the famous eruption.

A well plotted story and a slight romance but not one that detracts nor is too over-bearing. I think a bit more depth to the characters and this would be 5 stars for me.

My second book by Robert Harris after Conclave and I look forward to reading more of his, I do own several of his books so no excuse not to. So far so good.
