4.5!
This book was so good! While I don't love the romance, and I don't particularly like Penn, the plot and the rest of the characters made up for it. The battle scenes were ON POINT and although at first I didn't like Rhya, she started to grow on me after a while. She just seemed a little childish at times. I love love LOVE the friendship dynamic between her, Jac, Farley, Uther, Mabon, and Cadogan, and I really love Carys. I really wish Soren got more page time, because from what little I saw of him I could tell that he's an amazing character. Even though we only saw him in like two scenes and the annotations in Rhya's book, I already know I absolutely love him, so we BETTER see more of him in the next book!!! Also, this is probably one of the prettiest covers I've ever seen in my life, so the book gets extra point for that lol. I'm assuming the next one will have a similar design, possibly in blue? I really hope we get a chance to meet the Earth remnant in the next one!

As a die-hard Avatar: The Last Airbender fan, I tend to judge any story involving elemental magic by a pretty high bar—and while The Wind Weaver didn’t fully meet those expectations, it was still a solid and enjoyable read.

This romantasy had all the staples I love: a brooding, mysterious MMC, a strong yet emotionally layered FMC, witty side characters, and plenty of high-stakes action. The world-building and magic system weren’t particularly groundbreaking, but they still managed to hold my interest. I appreciated Penn’s internal struggle with his past, and Rhya’s journey toward healing and belonging was heartfelt. However, their romance hasn’t completely won me over (honestly, I might be shipping her with someone else), but I’m definitely intrigued enough to keep reading the series.

The writing: great
The fantasy/world building: fun and entertaining
The romance: trash!

This is bully romance light. The MMC does nothing but belittle and stifle the FMC. She may be naive but he lacks any form of emotional intelligence.

Remove the romance and make it YA, and this could have been an amazing book.
