I’m still a little conflicted about this one, because on the one hand I was really intrigued and I loved it but also I have a few things that were bugging me.

I did really really love the world building and magic system! I thought it was super cool and also how the remnants have their own connection was really interesting and I am hoping we get more of that in the future!! Plus the cities and courts, the “unexplored” north and the hunt against anyone with magic really kept me hooked.

I really loved the tension of the building relationship between Rhya and Scythe but I feel like their love language didn’t match up and they were both confused about where they are standing. At some point I unfortunately had some Tamlin flashbacks which I didn’t really love and I’m hoping will be different further along in the series, as I didn’t love how controlling he became.

I was also really intrigued by Suren and I’m still not sure where the story and relationship will go with him but I am very interested in learning more about his background.

I think my biggest problem was that the fmc read really YA for most of the book. I kind of understand why with her more sheltered from magic background but I still feel like she read and acted more like 16/17 than 20 years old.
