I mean, this was fine? The beginning of this book was action-packed and fairly fun, considering it was Avatar the Last Airbender-coded. I was getting a kick at trying to figure out who was the character inspo for each and thought maybe, JUST MAYBE, this was a Zuko and gender-bent Aang fanfic (like pls, anything was better than the canon romances ngl).

But ehhhh, unfortunately this didn't quite hit as great for me as some other ATLA-inspired stories. Much of the book was a whole lot of nothing happening, and when things did happen, it got fairly formulaic. Rhya gets into trouble, gets pushed to her limit, and suddenly her powers come in clutch and then someone comes in to make sure Rhya doesn't get completely obliterated by her overuse of her power. It literally took 300-something pages for the romance to get anywhere, too, and when it did, it was out of pocket, as there'd been no prior indication that Rhya actually LIKED the dude. She spent literally most of the book prior to "their moment" being annoyed by the LI's antics--for good reason--yet somehow it gets thrown out the window for a fair bit of snagging.

So yeah. I guess it was fine, but for me it didn't quite hold up as much as I'd have liked.

Solide vier Sterne.
