Friend of Sinners: Why Jesus Cares More about Relationship Than Perfection by Rich Wilkerson Jr

DNF. I’ve been trying since April to finish this book and each time I just cannot get through it. I read over 3/4 of the book but I cannot bring myself to push through the rest. The overall message is good, and I like what he is saying about Jesus’ nature- but based on the rave reviews, I was expecting sooo much more. I feel like the majority of the book is just cringy stories about the authors life, and it took away from the main focus of the book. I’m glad that the book has been life changing for so many people, but it’s personally not my cup of tea at all.

Such an amazing book!! If you are tired and weary in the faith, or just curious about Jesus, read this book. It's refreshing and is full of grace!!

A great book for Christians and non Christians. We as Christians are loving wrong and Pastor Rich does a great job laying out biblically what loving people looks like. Spoilers: it's not how the church currently loves.

The author writes with humor and humility. Wilkerson shows in his writing that Jesus was friend of sinners: whether they chose to believe in him or not, and that that is the kind of friends we should be. Friends whether our friends agree with us or not, friends without ulterior motives. Friends because people need relationship, and what better way to show the love of God to people than by giving them what they need?

Very good book. After a while I really had to force myself to finish reading. I almost didn’t finish. But Rich is brilliant and really gives you some things to think about!
