Although the plot and characters were lackluster, I love the academic lab setting for the typical romcom story. Takes me back to a stressful, competitive time in my life that seems rosy now!
ETA: cringy sex scene I had to skip.

Whoever lied to me and told me this author was problematic and that this book problematic fanfic. I’m going to find you and I’m going to hurt you because this book was amazing. There was nothing problematic now maybe in the original but this author was none of those things.
emotional funny

For a while I thought this would be a 5 star read but some of the things Olive struggled with as a 26 year old woman and just not being blunt/honest drove me a little nutty. Let me be clear though, this was a fun read and I could hardly put it down. Just a few things were cringey and annoying.

I feel Olive was a little too ditsy as much as I loved her. I liked how her character had depth by being scatterbrained and anxious, but at some points it just gave me second hand embarrassment. Also Anh had to have known something was up because she was pushing so much about them doing couple things together, and I just don’t think anyone would have acted that way unless they knew or suspected something. Ex. the sunscreen scene then telling her to go give her man a kiss for moving the truck that was broken down. I really did like the rising action of them meeting and leading up to the meeting where she was presenting. I loved the humor in the book too, but it only played a small part.
