can we start by saying that i definitely have a fear now that my child potentially shows signs of being a future serial killer?!

this book starts off strong giving us a future pov of our mc (blythe) and the foreshadowing of the tragic events of the past. this book from the very beginning gave me verity, the perfect child and the good son vibes! while reading, i was always at the edge of my seat wanting to read the next chapter immediately after finishing one. i also like how short the chapters were, it really made me want to read more since i read one super fast hehehe...

anyways back to the book, even though i knew in my gut something bad was going to happen--still while reading some of the sequences-- my jaw dropped to the ground and i audibly gasped.

this shit really gives you a whole new perspective on motherhood and childhood trauma, and how it affects how parents raised and treat their children on the long run. before this book, I am terrified at the thought of being a mother but now after reading this, it made it worse and to top it all off--imagine having a child who doesn't love you and complete sociopath...

blythe truly deserves better, violet is a future serial killer and fox can suck ass for being a shit husband.

A quick read that was more psychological than thriller. Told from the perspective of a woman trying to understand the relationship she has with her daughter that no one else wants to believe.

This is not an easy book to read. It is quite confronting, and at times I found it difficult to read. And it was hard reading about a girl named the same as my daughter, especially when the girl is awful. My daughter wasn't the easiest of babies, and I definitely had my share of bad days but this book takes the demanding and challenging days of parenthood to a whole new level. This definitely isn't a book for new parents or soon-to-be parents to read.

It took me a little while to get my head around the writing style, but once I did I was hooked. I will definitely be on the look out for more books by this author.
