I have never been so depressed reading a book. I normally would have never picked up a book like this but I’m glad that I read it. It was a type of grief that washed over you and made you think about it the rest of the day. The ending as well………all I could think of is that this poor woman whether or not she was a reliable narrator was going THROUGH it and I could never be mad at her as all I wanted to do was cry for her. I’ll probably read another book by this author in the future once I’m healed emotionally.

Really dark book - Could be the plot of a scary movie. Fast read, but you have to be in the mindset to read something so messed up.
dark emotional reflective sad medium-paced

Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This shattered me but was absolutely perfect

Took a while to really get into the book, but if you stick around long enough you’ll be sure to enjoy. A well rounded, complex, dark and twisty thriller.

3.5 stars. Haunting, quick read.

Dark, somewhat disturbing, but also relatable

4.5 rounded up! I really had to sit on this after I completed it to give it my honest review, but I really did love this book. I loved how fast pace it was, and how the chapters were so short. It truly made me feel a million different emotions throughout the book and at times it made me wonder who was telling the truth. My one critique is that I really would’ve loved to hear from a different character’s current perspective at the end, such as the husband’s or Gemma’s. I would’ve loved to hear their views on Blythe’s behavior, and if she was actually telling the truth throughout the book. Regardless, great story and great ending. Definitely not for everybody but I enjoyed it!
