Ugh 2.5 stars. This was not the book for me. I wanted to see how it ended but I really wish I hadn’t started to begin with. This book will be triggering for anyone who’s lost a child and should be avoided. I appreciate the author’s ability to reflect of different parenting roles and emotions but the suspense element was predictable and poorly done. The added layer of generational trauma was just over the top. I wouldn’t recommend this one.
A dark, sad story. I ended the book frustrated for a couple of reasons, however I suppose it wouldn’t be the same story if the mother kept looking for help for her daughter. Also, the ending. From a writer’s standpoint — yes, great ending! From a reader’s standpoint — What, that’s how it’s going to end‽
If I threw books, I would have. All this build up, all this time devoted to the story, ready for the conclusion, for this? That’s why it’s not a five star for me.
Maybe I’ll change my mind when I have had some distance.

I DEVOURED this book. I couldn’t get enough. I stayed up all night to finish this book after a long day of work. I came in eye bloodshot the next day ahaha. The writing style is phenomenal. The author writes so clear and detailed while switching through different characters and view points. It’s easy to get a hold of and you don’t want to stop once you do! Love! Definitely would read over and over again.
