A quick, fun read. The plot didn't contain any surprises, but that wasn't what I was looking for when I picked it up. Quirky and enjoyable. The perfect combination for a snowy evening.

A demon Princess? This is something we don't hear of everyday. So when a mysterious, but cute, guys begins following Nikki around every where, she gets annoyed. So when she confronts him, she's hoping for an "I'm sorry." Not a "You're the Demon Princess and you're in danger." Thus begins this in thrilling tale of Nikki and her new found news, not to mention her powers.

I am happy to report that I enjoyed this novel a lot. It's a great beginning to a series I think many will enjoy reading. It begins with a creepy guy starring at Nikki , and then takes us on a roller coaster adventure.

Nikki was a great main character. She was funny and likable and just great. But she was also independent and strong and I liked that a lot. The other characters were great too. All the characters were nicely developed.

The plot was full of twists and turns and new things kept popping up everywhere, but that was part of the great read. It had a nice flow to it, not to fast or too slow. I also loved the romance aspect of this novel!

Genre: demons, high school cliques, family relations
Summary: 16 yr old Nikki just got asked to the Winter dance by the most popular boy in school and everything is looking up for her when she hears from her long lost father. She learns he is a demon king and she is a Darkling, half demon- half human. Just as she gets to know her father, Nikki finds out he is dying and she just might know who is to blame.
Response: So this was an Amazon recommendation that was ok. For what it is, it is a predictable easy read that is a different twist to the supernatural genre.

Ugh, pretty much half way. I'm not impressed. Sure some scenes are captivating but this stuff doesn't seem new. It's the age old story of a teenage girl whose dad left and then, BAM! Daddy's a demon. And you know, some creep follows you and you instantly love him? I was waiting for some history or something but no, INSTA-LOVE! There is no depth to the characters and there was a chapter full of sorry to scare you- crap and the chick nearly fainting? Sure, something I may have done (I stress may) but seriously I'm not too sympathetic. I thought the book might be a bit better but it seems bland. I can't connect to the character and I feel that her relationships are just... fake. I've read better teen books.....

GRRR, I finished it but god! Half of it was predictable and everything about it was unoriginal and just didn't work for me. Not feeling the need to read on.

Nikki transferred school 2 months ago to Erin Heights High School and she recently turned 16. She lucked out in the friendship department with Melinda as her now Bestie, her mom just recently got married and moved them 3000 miles away from their previous home in San Diego and Erin Heights is located in a small town west of Toronto, Canada next to Lake Ontario an area where her mom was born.

At school Melinda notices a strange weird guy lurking and staring at Nikki in the school cafe, and he kind of gives them the creeps. The guy is there for a few reasons, 1. He knows her father personal 2. He needs to tell her who she really is? 3. He needs to take her to father (to meet for the first time). But when he does tell her she wants absolutely nothing to do with either of them.

Question: would you take the chance she was given? And what would you do if you were in her position?

This series is surprisingly cute! Nikki is typically teenager, and only slightly annoying as such, has a lovely relationship with her mother, and is, apparently, a demon princess. Which she is just now finding out about. It's an interesting premise. Some of the other characters are pretty well-rounded as well, though fairly typical (the queen bee, the hot guy, etc). I liked Nikki's interactions with her aunt, but her reaction to her father seems fairly weak.

So,when I picked this book I thought it would be awesome. Is sounded a lot like Demon Envy by Erin Lynn, which I loved. But,man the book started somewhat fine and went downhill from there.
Every single character was stupidly naive and shallow and with no depth whatsoever.I mean even the supposed evil bitch was stupid enough to be manipulated.
The two main characters and their love story were very annoying,I mean they literally went from crazy stalker and person being stalked, to forbidden love and sacrificing for each other in a matter of hours- who does that.
I guess I shouldn't have started with high expectations, but I am still very disappointed. The book was like a Freaking Disney movie- painfully predictable and with such plain characters. You can't even hate them, they're that plain.
In conclusion, good enough for wasting some time but still wouldn't really recommend it -just too predictable.I literally knew what was gonna happen from page one and from the mention of the aunt knew everything about her.

When I first saw this book, the cover illustration and the title made me think it was going to be pretty cheesy. But I was drawn to the synopsis given in the jacket flap, so I thought I would give it a go.
I was so wrong. This book isn't cheesy. It is very well-written and lots of fun to read. It kept me up into the early hours of the morning, because I had to finish just one more chapter!
This book is about Nikki Donovan, who has just moved to a small town in Canada (yay!) called Erin Heights. She is stalked by a mysterious stranger who tells her that her dad is the demon king of a place called the Shadowlands. And Nikki is the princess and first in line for the thrown.
Anyways, as I said I really love this book. It was magical and romantic and just a whole lot deeper than I ever thought it could be. The real-life aspects of the novel are, well, real. The fantastical aspects are just wonderful. Nikki is a very likeable character (isn't it difficult to read a book when you hate hate hate the heroine?) and Michael...well, he's something else for sure! This book was really different, and I am excited to read the next book in the Demon Princess series: [b:Reign Check|7041456|Reign Check (Demon Princess, #2)|Michelle Rowen|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1267925828s/7041456.jpg|7290732].
