In a heartwrenching sequel to Maus I, the reader enters the camp of Auschwitz alongside Art's father and sees what he experienced, how he survived, and his life after. This book had sadder tones than the first and some upsetting imagery from the Holocaust. The present-day conflicts between Vladek and his son are full of emotion and show the lingering effects the war had on their whole family. This felt like a raw and genuine sharing of family history and tragedy. A phenomenal graphic novel series for those wishing to learn about the Holocaust from a first-hand account.
