I really liked this, this book was my favorite in the series. Rowan and Violette had such good chemistry, and I usually do not like flashback chapters or parts, but this book was the exception. It blended into the story soo seamlessly and the writing really reflected their growth as a person.
This was my first Paisley Hope book, but it will not be my last, her writing is so good and well-rounded.

Honestly? This made me realize that in the case of insta-love miscommunication, or really ANY sort of true communication is a must.
This was a second chance romance where the couple is instantly in love with each other even if there’s talks of “walls being up” and being anxious about giving the relationship another shot. There is no groveling, no true yearning, and it was severely low stakes. To the point, this book is boring.
I think miscommunication can be done well and can even elevate the plot, especially in an insta-love situation where the couple doesn’t truly know the other yet or they’ve grown apart and have changed. I think it would have given the book SOME sort of dazzle, if you will. Or maybe I’m just yearning for a couple that actually communicates and processes things in a realistic manner and doesn’t immediately fall in/back in love so quickly. I like my men to grovel and work. Rowan didn’t do…anything.
Violette and Rowan were pushed together due to a work injury on his part and that just escalated the progress of their relationship. I don’t know. It just didn’t work for me. When it’s one of the character’s job to take care of the other when they’re injured, just doesn’t hit the same.
I also didn’t like that the first detailed spice scene was when Rowan and Violette were in high school. I understand they were 18, but it’s tired and gives me the ick.
The whole point of their breakup was lame and so…over dramatized for what? To show that Rowan wasn’t a scum bag and so we would love him as instantly as Violette did? I don’t know but it was so, so dumb.
Plus, the way EVERYONE in Violette’s life was so pro-Rowan immediately and I was like, is this real life? I know he’s a good guy but maybe Vi wasn’t ready? She hadn’t been to therapy at all for her past trauma and she wasn’t even fully divorced yet. Let’s all let this settle first.
The last thing that irked me was a trope that just makes me cringe and annoyed immediately. It’s when the FMC has NEVER had an orgasm before in her whole life. Despite them being grown and in this case, fully married with a child. I get it. Most men aren’t considerate. But golly, stop being so predictable. Change up the conversation for once.
I thought this was going to be different and really, it’s my own fault for getting my expectations to be high. I think I’m just so tired of all romances feeling so predictable and copy and paste of every single other romance book out there right now. But again, it’s my fault and all my opinion.
The author did their best but the book just wasn’t for me.
