The whole first half of the book is backstory and then the romance and interesting stuff happens later on. Rowan's perspective is boring and I think this would be much more fun if it was all from Violette's point of view.

Second Chance Romances are one of my favorite tropes because they have the potential to bring out so many emotions. Paisley executed this second chance beautifully. The reason for their parting was tragic but was still something that was forgivable, which can be make or break for a story.

Rowan was the perfect book boyfriend. From the moment he decided he wanted Violette back he showed up for her every chance he could.

Overall, this was a 4-star read for me. I am excited to read the last in this trilogy!

4.5/5 ⭐️ for me

This book will have you all up in your feels as you relive Vi and Rowan’s childhood love then watch them rekindle it years later (pun intended). This is an angsty and swoons second chance romance, and it does not disappoint. Rowan cuts through all the tension being the golden retriever MMC that he is. His scenes with Hols had me swooning, and him standing up to VI’s ex only made me fall harder. That bar even about did me in. If there’s one thing Paisley can do, it’s write a steamy little bar scene.

Book two in the Sky Ridge Hotshots series is about Rowan Kingsley, and his relationship with his best friend's sister, Violette. Rowan and Violette are high school sweethearts that break up because of a secret. After a tragedy brings a recently divorced Violette back to town, Rowan decides that this time nothing and no one is going to keep them apart.
I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first one. The chemistry between Rowan and Violette was a lot better than the couple from the first book and I think it’s because we go into it knowing they had a previous connection. When Violette comes back to town, she is determined to make a better life for herself and her daughter while trying to maintain a healthy co-parenting relationship with her ex-husband. In her mind, there is no time for a new relationship and, least of all, with the man who broke her heart in high school, so she is avoiding Rowan at all costs. But when he gets injured in a fire and ends up under her care at the hospital, the connection is undeniable. I really liked how the author rebuilds their relationship throughout the story. It feels believable. The fact that Rowan is determined to not only build a relatIonship with Violette but her daughter Hollie as well is so sweet. Some of my favorite scenes were between Rowan and Hollie. They are so cute. It was also great to see them both work through their individual issues and insecurities, not for the other person but for themselves. I enjoyed this book and I will be reading the next one.
