Deadpool Vs. Gambit

Ben Acker

3.26 AVERAGE

Acker and Blacker are brilliant.

Spragniony Gambita zabłądziłem w złe terytoria. Jednak nadal był to lepszy crossover niż ten z Hawkeyem.

Big fan of both Gambit and Deadpool.

I am a huge Gambit fan and was excited for something new to come out. Gambit was not done right in this. All the characters felt off to me. I did not like the artwork at all.

The first issue was great, but then it gets really confusing and less fun. Definitely glad I didn't buy more than one issue and/or this trade.

Such chaotic fun, love it. All in al it ends at a 3.5 for me.

The best thing I've read ever. Then again, deadpool is involved. Is that really a surprise anymore?

So I read this entire run mainly because of the two title characters, who I absolutely adore. Normally, I would give up on a miniseries that bored me after the first issue, but I gave it some leeway because of the name recognition. Trust me, that was a bad idea. Name brand can only go so far toward saving bad writing, and it hardly went anywhere with this one. No matter how many name drops or "cutesy" references you make, it doesn't disappear bad writing.
A con artist story turned into Fat Cobra/K'un Lun storyline (not to mention misspelling K'un Lun, wtf?) turned into Asgard/Loki story? Not to mention, why are Deadpool and Gambit being con artists right now? Maybe Gambit, but Deadpool has no need for money like this right now, he's freaking rich! Also, why are we looking at this old version of Loki? At what point in the completely screwed up Marvel timeline are we supposed to be in? If the story is supposed to take place in the past, it would be nice if they would tell us when in the past this is supposed to take place. Nebulous time frames for long-term storylining is one thing, but completely ignoring current ongoing events in favor of creating some kind of trumped up golden age story-telling mythology is just ridiculous.
Take my advice and steer clear of this one, folks.

This is how I want my Deadpool. Rather than finding hilarity in slaughter this is a heist/con artist story that reaches into the stranger corners of the Marvel Universe and come up gold with Iron Fist foil Fat Cobra, who has never been more awesome or fun as he is here, and the Scrambler. Gambit is also done well as Deadpool's strait man and the art, dialogue and monologues are all really good.

Pretty funny start.
