Great and insightful first half and messy second half.

This is a book in 3 parts; mind, body and soul. 
Part one was great - it narrated the life of a Istanbul prostitute named Leila, who has been killed. We follow her from birth through to the night of her death and it is and absolute heart wrenching story. 
Part two was baffling - In this we primarily follow her friends and se how they handle the first 24 hours after the loss of their friend. This part was not good: though we had been introduced to the friends we had not in any way gotten to know them, and their friendships didn't seem very healthy. There were to many friends to keep them properly separated and for them to have any development, leaving them as flat caricatures. The plot was this weird hap-hazardous story that would have been much better suited in a comedy. It was a mess!
Part three was very short and a fine conclusion to the story.

Holy guacamole. I've never read something like this. I've always been intrigued about what happens after we die, but this storytelling took me on a fascinating mind trip right there.
