Queer folks deserve silly little love stories, and boy, do we get that here. Lou is understandably standoffish and cautious because of their situation. And Clem is the exact opposite of that, wanting a kiss or a touch of her bare shoulder...something, anything!
The main characters are POC, and Lou's non-binary; I'm in!
There's action, adventure (it's set in the Old West, after all), and love. And so much pining. The two main characters are wonderfully written and sweetly compatible. You'll get what you need here: action, romance, bounties, mystery, and old loves coming to complicate everything. I loved They Ain't Proper. I wish I could read it for the first time again.

Lots of drama, lots of cute moments and lots of love.
The plot is kind of a mess but they fall in love nevertheless. I adore them.

Lou and Clementine are really cute but this book was so slow. The problem was that they just didn't talk. I would be fine with this if they eventually did but they really didn't. Juanita is the person who told Clem everything about Lou. I liked the end of the book when they were actually together, I just wish we had more of it.

B-/C+ Enjoyable queer Latinx nb/f historical romance set in the American west. A mail order bride is delivered to the wrong ranch and ends up staying. The writing is a little rough and the plot definitely overwhelmed the romance in the second half of the book.

Received an arc from NetGalley, thanks!
A bit too much miscommunication for me, but goddamit if stealing ducks together absolutely bought me.
