I loved it so much I read it twice, back to back!

This enemies to lovers dark fantasy romance is so HOT!

Rowan is a sexy, tattoo covered, hulk of a man/witch! And he’s the new combat training professor at the paranormal academy, Astracadia. He’s about 300 years older than the fae little sister of his friend, the Fae Queen, he shouldn’t want her. But being forbidden makes it that much hotter! Oriana, Ri, can’t stop the professor from invading and consuming her dreams. As much as she wants to loathe him she can’t stop wanting him to touch her!!

While Rowan and Ri try to keep it in their pants, there’s a dark magic killing professors and students.

Favorite quote:
“Because, little faerie, I feel like I can't even fucking breathe without seeing your face. Every moment I'm not near you, my lungs burn, and it is impossible to concentrate on anything except knowing that you are safe. It aches somewhere deep in the marrow of my very bones to know I can't touch you whenever I want to.”

This book has so many good tropes:

My favorite of the series… which might say more about me than I’d like to admit. Spicy, lots of tension.

I liked this one a lot. It is the first one in the series that I have read, and I was not confused at all. So, I feel that it can definitely be read as a standalone.

I absolutely loved Rowan and Ri. They are the perfect match for each other... And their banter. Oh man I loved it. Ri was right there to dish everything back to Rowan and I was there for it. I also really liked the side characters, and I am excited to read their stories and to see how they ended up where they were.

Overall, this one was really good, and I am definitely going to read the other stories in this series. As always please check the trigger warnings. This book is spicy and has some darker scenes.

**I read an ARC of Brutal Birthright and this is my honest opinion**

A grumpy, horny warrior. A stubborn, violent heroine. What could go wrong? There were definitely times where I felt a little lost in Oriana’s mind, but I LOVED Rowan’s chapters.
It was a little refreshing to see the Fae as the lesser beings in a fantasy for once, honestly. I liked the academic vibes and the banter of the side characters.
Although this is technically a standalone (and apparently the last in the series), I do feel like one should read the books in order prior to starting this one or risk a little confusion (that did NOT affect the story)

- enemies to lovers
- teacher / student
- badass FMC
- the tension
- mates!!!!
- twists and turns!

This was my first Elliott Rose book, and it did not disappoint!

I REALLY loved the chemistry between Rowan and Oriana. I enjoyed that they "got" each other without realizing that they did. I liked that Rowan was amazed at Ri’s strength and that they really pushed each other to be their full selves. Also, since I haven’t read the other books in the series the glimpse we get of Rowan’s history and how Ri embraces him was well done.

I was very happy about the twist on the student/ teacher and fated mate tropes in this book. Sometimes the fated mate tropes can be a stretch, but I enjoyed the way Elliott Rose created it in this book. Each different species (witches, vampires, werewolves, fae, etc.), all had different ways of discovering their mate, and they were not necessarily required to be with each other.

That made the relationship between Ri and Rowan a mix of sweet and passionate. Both of them were warriors and could have done without a fated mate. Not to mention them being in a student/teacher age-gap situation. This led to a lot of tension and pining between them, and they, of course, try to fight it. I love that once Ri realizes Rowan is her mate, she refuses to tell him because she doesn’t want him to feel trapped or experience his rejection. But she resolves to take whatever time she can with him.

You guys, all the feels with the two of them. And the external story that was going on added to their relationship and the dynamic that was happening between them. This was the last book in the Nocturnal Hearts Series, but I am looking forward to reading the spinoffs from this series.

OMG - Where do I start?!

I loved this book. The chemistry between Rowan and Ri is what steamy dreams are made of. I love a good broody, duty-bound male lead who can’t stand most people. I especially love when that male lead meets his equal in a feisty, independent, goal-driven female lead who never has to sacrifice the things she wants in life. Also, there’s the magical component to it all. Everything is better with a little bit of magic.

“‘You think I can’t tell the way your body responds because I’m not a creature who senses blood?’ He slowly circled her. Studying her.”

It only gets better from there. Once I started, I couldn’t put this book down. It’s technically a standalone. This is book 5 of the Nocturnal Hearts Series and I can’t wait to devour the rest of the series to catch up.
