I think the author is successful enough when it comes to portraying the brutality and paranoia stemming from gun violence and how far America could potentially go down in future if the current trends persist, but I felt like the whole thing was a bit over the top, dragged on for longer than necessary and ended way too quick. Perhaps it was intentional but it left me feeling meh nonetheless. While I appreciate the message it was trying to deliver, unfortunately it just wasn't much of an interesting read for me overall.

this is going to sound weird but..
Vigilance is the best 3.75/5 star book you're gonna read, maybe ever..
>> if you've gotten past the cover, and the copy on the back, i would still caution you to steel yourself for the violence and gore and apathy regarding domestic terrorism.
>> ALL that said, Bennett lays out his opinions about the way gun violence is being handled (or mishandled) in America.
>> i read the first 30 or so pages to start, and then i read the remaining 160 pages the next night. it's not Bennett's best work but i fully respect, and fully support this novella.

TL;DR - Vigilance is like a Black Mirror episode about gun violence, voyeurism, capitalism, etc. etc.
