When I think of a perfect graphic novel, this cute series, Garlic and the Vampire and Garlic and the Witch, truly are it. Vivid images, a unique plot, and the most lovable characters you’ll ever meet.

This graphic novel was also SO CUTE!! I loved learning about the origin of all the fruits and veggies and how the witch created them. The ending was very surprising, and I did not see it coming.

Garlic continues to grow into a braver, more magical, and more connected person in this sequel/companion story. The queer representation is subtle yet infused throughout. I would read any stories that the author writes about this community of magical vegetables. (Maybe more back story about the Witch or the Count? Maybe other stories that were happening for other characters in the garden? I'd read them all.)

Oh, my heart! Garlic overcoming her panic attack was iconic. She is such a strong magical creature. I love the theme of courage throughout both books.

Such a cute continuation of the plot from the first book, and some backstory as well! A smidge of queer romance, a touch of vampire lore, and a beautifully articulated moral about accepting change and growing.

Favorite character: Count. He’s very supportive.

What a cute sequel to Garlic & The Vampire! This was a quick read, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. Beautiful queer representation aside, the art is just as beautiful, and it teaches readers how beautiful it is to be human <3
