This one didn’t really do it for me but it was still an enjoyable read.

I laughed, I cried, I read passages aloud to my husband.
I really enjoyed Harriet and I was desperate for her and Wyn to get it together.

I really needed a couple days to get my thoughts in order and let this one sink in…
because this was a ride…
The emotional dept of these characters is just something I have never read before

The book is called happy place but never have I cried 😭 or wanted to cry 🥺so much while reading a book, this one was so sad and so good
So be warned this is not a happy feelgood book

I really felt with the characters, but it was such an emotional ride 😭🤬🤯
Frustration, sobbing and finally some happy tears in the end

Happy Place a second chance romance about two exes, Harriet and Wyn, who are forced to spend a week together on a weekend getaway with their friends, and it is written from Harriet’s perspective.
Harriet and Wyn had been the perfect couple through college since they met. They were perfect together… until they weren’t anymore. And that they broke up six months ago, they didn’t tell anyone, including their best friend group. When their friendgroup invites them for a weekendtrip away to reminisce the old days, they find themselves sharing the honeymoonsweet at the cottage in Maine, which has been their yearly friend getaway place.

The narration alters between the present time and the past, when Wyn and Harriet were just getting together and how the friend group came to be. The parallels were sometimes a bit annoying, but they helped you understand their past better and learn about the characters on a more dimensional level. The past is shown as Harriets “Happy Place”, in particular the cottage in Maine spend with her closest friends, which I just loved 🥰.

Harriet is just how I was before therapy. She is like the sweetest person ever, but always puts her own needs on the backburner and wants to please everyone. She is just unable to show her emotions to others, especially to those close to her. She always has this fear of being a burden, which makes my heart ache for her 😢. When learning about her family you do understand why she is the way she is and had these beliefs about herself but still… I constantly wanted to shake her and tell her she was enough and not a burden and to just talk it out.

Wyn, wyn, wyn… I just love this man soo much. That his love language is physical touch is just … ugh 😍
And I was just feeling for him constantly, he is literally my bf, so self conscious and insecure about himself even though I would say it is soo unnecessary 😢. He definitely is soo swoon worthy 😍😍. I also just loved the depth of his character and his background.

Normally I am not really a fan of the second chance romance, but this one was so good, but also soo sad and the angst and pining were just soo intense 😭, my poor little heart had such a hard time with this read.

Further I would love a book for Cloe and Kimmy and Sabrina and Parth to learn more about the development of their relationships and how their perspectives. Would also have loved some chapters from Wyns perspective 😍🥰.
The friendships and found family were also soo great 😍

Note: it is huge on the miscommunication trope tho, so if that is not your thing be warned
