Hunting Season by Annie Bellet

I can see why the first four installments of this series were bundled into a title called Level Grind. I liked this installment because we see more movement in the overarching plot line and not just the mystery of the week. I found Samir's apprentices to be intriguing because they are after all in the same position that Jade was at one time. I appreciate the fact that Jade is still struggling with what it means to be a sorceress and the choices she has to make to survive the threat of Samir.

3.5 stars. These are relatively short (this one was only 16 chapters) but are fast paced and action packed so they are a good quick read.

REREAD 2019
Reading the whole series from the beginning in preparation for reading [b:Magic to the Bone|29558243|Magic to the Bone (The Twenty-Sided Sorceress, #7)|Annie Bellet|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1458469174l/29558243._SY75_.jpg|49434964] for the first time.

Listening to this book now, I feel like I've read it before.
Yes, I know I have, but not in the sense that I've read THIS book before, but another book rather like it. I can't remember which one, but the feeling wouldn't give out, which is kind of annoying.

Other than that, I also found the book felt a little messy. There's a lot of story-lines here that I do enjoy, but pushing them all together didn't quite work for me this time around.
To be honest, the problem may be that I'm listening to the whole series in one go, which I usually don't, so I start seeing patterns and such that I didn't notice before, but I'm not sure I want to take a break from the reread either.

New rating: 3/5 stars

Listened to this as an audiobook

Oh, things are going down!
And we got druids and nature magick. I love it!

Not much else to say about this that I haven't already said about the series.
Well written, short and fast listen's.
Also, as said, things are going down! I need the next book in the series NOW!

Definitely planned to read only a bit of this on my lunch yesterday but ended up staying up late to power through the ending. Another great entry into the series, onto the next one!

Another good addition with a few more surprises. For a short story there is quite a bit covered and more filling out of the main characters.
Do love the story and world that the author has built. Would love to see more from this story line, as well as a more filled out story dealing the Jade and her crew.
