An interesting book and situation; makes one want to retire to the south of France. The only thing is that I wanted something more for an ending. It wrapped up a little too quickly and seemed to leave me hanging a little.

Heed me: best consumed poolside during a July heatwave, booze a’plenty. Don’t come crying your frustration to me in ‘Dry January’, psh.

Guy inherits farm in France just as career dives. Moves to rural France, with no money worries, and grows crops, has animals - everyone's dream. Sort of a fictional account of 'A Year in Provence' by the same author. Mundane in that regard, but relaxing to read.

Lite reading, which is what I was looking for, but it felt a little empty. Not the literary excursion to France that I was hoping for. On the up side, it does make me want to go back to reread A Year in Provence and others in that series. Certainly does not make me want to see the movie.

I enjoyed it. Absolutely nothing like the book apart from the character names & setting.

I found this to be terribly amateurish in prose and story. Not to mention the constant repetition of names became quickly annoying. I think he thought himself to be clever in how he named his characters and so he felt he had to keep repeating their names in full? Or the fact that he’s still using portions of French as if we understood it?
Also the audio book is incredibly cringeworthy and a bit racist. The narrator attempts to do imitations of accents which were shocking and terrible.
