I listened to the audio version of this book. I'm glad I read the McClain Brothers series first. I really couldn't get into this book. Maybe because it is too easy to encounter the "Ryan's" in real life.
I did like that Angela was a natural hair vlogger, and a You Tube star. I liked that the author made mention of some of the sisters relationship issues may have stemmed from their father's behavior and they seemed to be aware of that fact. I liked how the sisters jumped to each other's defense.
I just couldn't get into the Ryan and Angela relationship until almost the very end. He seemed superficial. She seemed to go from strong and independent, albeit making a couple of bad relationship choices, to being whiny. It was especially irritating when she told him to get out, he did, and she wanted to be upset about it acting like he did something wrong.
I did like the way that Ryan changed his behavior and stuck to it. He was supportive of her career before the changes occurred in his own life.
This book was ok, and definitely worth the read, but the author set a high bar for herself with the McClain series. For me, this was good, but didn't hit that bar.

“Stay With Me” by Alexandria House is a captivating contemporary romance novel that dives deep into the complexities of love, trust, and vulnerability. Centered around Angela, a successful natural hair vlogger known as 4C Angie, the story explores her journey as a social media icon who has sworn off love due to past heartbreaks. Despite her flourishing career and strong influence within the natural hair community, Angela’s personal life is marred by the scars of previous relationships that she deems were a waste of eleven years of her life.
The narrative takes an intriguing turn with the entrance of Ryan, a charming Creole man with a captivating accent and a reputation as a player. Like Angela, Ryan is also averse to love, setting the stage for a compelling dynamic between the two. Their initial commitment to steer clear of emotional entanglements quickly falters as they find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other, challenging their preconceived notions about love and relationships.
Alexandria House brilliantly navigates the tension and chemistry between Angela and Ryan, crafting a story that is not only steamy and sexy but also rich with emotional depth. The novel excels in portraying the gradual dismantling of the walls the characters have built around their hearts, offering a heartfelt exploration of their fears and desires.
The romance between Angela and Ryan is beautifully developed, with House using their interactions to delve into themes of healing, self-discovery, and the courage to open up to love again. The backdrop of the natural hair community adds a unique and authentic layer to Angela’s character, highlighting her influence and the importance of self-love and acceptance.

I love Alexandria House's books because she keeps them pretty low angst and the guys are always SIMPS for their women. More. More MOOOORE.
3.5 stars
Low angst, low conflict Black love romance. I had a great time, but I was more interested in Angela's sisters than I was in Angela and Ryan.
