This is one of the best book series I have read. The fact that it’s a Star War series just adds onto that fact.

BRILLIANT

There is so much to love for this very epic but intimate conclusion to this trilogy. From this very particular point of view at the Battle of Jakku, to particular arcs of each character I feel as happy as I could be after reading it. It’s been a ride!

Victory’s price perfectly captured the end chapter of the journey for our squadron of misfits, some of their hardest decisions and in the very end, how they had to deal with the end of the war. If anything, I’m just very happy that he returned our boy Wyl back Home.

I do have to point out how much I loved how he perfectly captured Hera’s voice and evolved it into what she became after the responsabilities increased and the stakes grew exponentially.

An absolute gem and a must read.

Alphabet Squadron is probably one of the most thematically-strong instalments of Star Wars. It's not trying to hook you with an adventure or with a cast of charismatic characters (although both of these are quite interesting), but trying to make you question the morality of a justice system, how far should violence go for "the greater good" and really really focus on the individuals in a war.

The empire is not a faceless mass of evil. Is a system made by people that for better of for worse were stimulated to every act of corruption possible. And the New Republic isn't just full of dashing heroes, but soldier tired of the fight and scared senseless of the war and its unavoidable end. The humanisation is great, specially because it never tries to play it as a both-siding. Freed is great at balancing the nuances without gratuitously excusing the Empire for its horrific deeds.

The climax is emotional and trilling (my only caveat being Wyl's part in it) and the end felt fulfilling in a bittersweet way.

Enjoyed the book, but the series as a whole leaned a lot more on "there are no winners in war" than the series I thought I was reading when I first started. It was well done, however!
