More like 3.5. The premise of angels being the bad guys was pretty awesome but the romance aspect of it was way too cheesy for my taste.
I was a little unsure starting this one. I’d read a few reviews where people mentioned putting the book down after the first few chapters. But after reading it, I couldn’t understand why. It’s like Alex Rider mixed with angels. Evil angels, by the way. I’m always interested in how an author spins angel books. There’s so many about angels being good, and I loved the fact that here angels were more like demons. They feed off of humans because their own world is slowly deteriorating. Also the thing I really liked about this one is that there aren’t a lot of half-angel-half-human beings walking around. As far as we know, it’s just Willow. And Alex, an AK (Angel Killer) CIA teenager, has been contracted to kill her. The problem: Willow doesn’t have a halo, the heart of an angel. So what can Alex do but follow her to figure out what the heck she is...

This book had such a good premise but the characters were just too flat for me and the cliches were just too annoying for me to like this book.
I think I lost most of the respect that I had for this novel when Willow was more afraid that her boyfriend was mad at her than she was of dying by a suicide mission. Actually it might have been before that, when the two were in the cabin and spent 75 pages of nonstop kissing. Yeah it must've been then.
Hmm... another series about Angels. Meh, it was okay. More 'badass-ness' would have been good.
'Angel' centres a lot on Willow and Alex's relationship. Which is great, but only if it were done well. For me, there were some pacing issues. The author concentrated on the lead up to them being a couple throughout 3/4 of the book and the whole time I didn't really care if they did or not. They weren't remarkable characters, nothing I hadn't seen before. You know they are going to be together, it was a matter of when- and boy did that take a long! I simply didn't ship them, and the whole thing lost momentum.
Actually that isn't entirely true, there was a point before they 'got together', I was like 'I kinda get this now'. But their relationship from then on moved so fast it was crazy. They became a cheesy, love induced couple in a matter of seconds.
Although I do give kudos to the author on one point... Angels being the bad guys' scenario was fresh, interesting and... Terrifying. I'd love to see how it plays out further in the series (If I decide to read on further).

Angel is my first book by L.A. Weatherly and reading it has been exciting!
First of all, I just wanna say that it took me a really long time to finish this due to my college studies and unfortunately, I only had time to read this on the weekend.
The story is about Willow Fields, who is a half-angel and has this amazing ability where she can see people's futures, dreams, hopes and regrets just by touching them. And she's about to be killed by an Angel Killer a.k.a AK named Alex. But Alex is drawn to Willow and when he knew the truth, he began to protect her and soon fall in love with her.
Reading Angel made me feel delighted. Lots of new things are introduced in this novels, such as angel burn and marshalling, which were pretty interesting. There was a lot of romance in this book and I was a bit overwhelmed. And I found myself smiling like a retard every time I read the romance parts. It was really good, IMO. Action was less, only halos shot and bodies blown to pieces. Well-paced.
Willow is almost like any other YA protagonists. One good thing about her was that she's quite an expert in cars. She's brave and willing to take risks to save the humanity race, although it could get her killed, but she did it anyway. She had her doubts, too but quickly got over it, despite her feelings for Alex. And the fact that she could contact her angel without it affecting her physical form whatsoever kinda wowed me.
Alex is lovely. He was so concerned of Willow he's willing to sacrifice anything for her. That's so sweet! He's gorgeous too and hot! Together, they're such a cute couple. They spent a lot of time together, cuddling and kissing and they felt safe with each other's presence.
Going to read Angel Fire soon!

This was one of my favourite books back in the day, and I'm currently back in land of nothing hut my old books to reread so I grabbed this to read.
This story is so close to 5 stars, the take on angels is so interesting and the story is really gripping, but at points the romance completely takes over. There was potential for the romance to be a great hate to love relationship, but it was pretty instalovey, and very sappy at that.

I think road trips are always the best way to capture a reader's attention, but that's just my opinion. Anyway Angle Burn was absolutely awesome. For some stupid reason, that I don't even remember anymore, I kept pushing this book away. Now looking back at the first couple of chapters I can now understand that they were a bit of a drag, but straight after like the third chapter everything got more fun and intense.
If you haven't read it yet I deeply recommend it.
Ok now for the spoilers section that I go on about how annoying or how good some parts were:)
First off I would like to clarify that Beth is a mental *****. Phew that felt good to get off my chest. Secondly, what the hell?
how could a person forget that they impregnated a women and than be suprised about it. Seriously though that part just makes no sense whatsoever. Thirdly, Was I the only person that actually felt that the whole angelic stone plan would work. But if it did than what would happen in the rest of the series?
You see how I ask and answer my own questions. Like a boss. Ha I crack myself up.
OK SPOILERS ARE OVER NOW!!
Oh well, I guess I have to somehow snatch the next book in the trilogy even though I explicitly told myself to not buy any more books. Why must I torture myself like this????????
