A slow burner, you need excessively low demands to read this book - best read when locked away from the world in retreat, or in the middle of the night, with no interruptions! Fast paced and inconclusive, a reflection on humanity

If you want a WW2 read from an author who lived through it, this needs to be on your shelf. This story is about two families navigating the horrors of Italy during WW2. The story follows Anna, a young girl just becoming a teenager as the war gears up outside of Italy’s borders, who grows up listening to the revolutionary ideals of her father and brother while having her own dreams of a revolution.
