There’s a lot to love in Cloudy with a Chance of Bad Decisions. The first half completely hooked me sharp humor, great character chemistry, and some of the best tension and spice I’ve read in a while. I was fully on board and flying through the pages.

But somewhere past the halfway point, the pacing started to lose momentum. At nearly 600 pages, it just felt like the story kept going without enough new development to keep me fully invested. The stakes felt a bit manufactured, and by the end, the two POVs had started to blur together, losing that distinct charm they had at the start.

Still, I can absolutely see why people love it. The first 50%? Easily a five-star experience. It just didn’t quite hold that magic all the way through for me.

It was okay. I started out through enjoying this hook but then it went downhill when it came to the writing for me. I’m a big stickler when it comes to that.

The writing was so repetitive and annoying. It seemed every page (at one point ness the end it was) needed to have either “Christ” or “Jesus Christ” as a form of expression and it was annoying. Or gaggle…I’m so tired of that word now. But also in the mollifying of our MCs just the same thoughts over and over. There was a point near the end where the MCs past or issues were almost the same? Like the characters ended up molding into each other and became the same one.

Not to mention how kinky this book ended up being. With a plethora of kinks that I personally do not like. I had no idea that it was going to be like that going in. And the smut just become too much too fast at the end of the book.

The last 50% was smut after smut and I found myself skimming just to finish the dang book.

Also the book is wayyy too long. Over 500 pages? Some h was unnecessary and didn’t need to be in it. Couple that with a bunch of missed opportunities in the writing and it was disappointing.

This book was wonderful! It had the perfect balance of angst and happiness/excitement/romance. I couldn’t help but root for the two MMCs along with the other characters in the book. I feel like I fell in love with each of the characters individually and together. I could barely put this book down to get anything done. It’s one of those books that you can’t start late in the day because you’ll tell yourself one more chapter until the sun comes up. The book takes place over a few short amount of time but doesn’t feel rushed and also doesn’t feel like it’s dragging on. I felt like I was going through each day with the characters and living their lives with them. I was a little worried that the length of the book would be too long and that I would get bored but it was the perfect length. If it was much longer it may start getting that way but I’m so glad it wasn’t any shorter or I worry that it would be less detailed and maybe rushed. This has to be one of my favorite books this year, and honestly one of the best books I’ve read for years maybe.
