First of all I want to thank Laxmama and Jan for digging this book out of whatever hole it was hiding in since it was published almost a year ago. For the past three weeks it had dominated my feed in the likes that I've only seen for [b:The Silver Cord|42122637|The Silver Cord (The Silver Cage, #2)|Anonymous|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1538544092l/42122637._SY75_.jpg|65719106]. Then to Moony and Shile for messaging me to drop everything and read it asap.

So I started with high expectations, and boy-oh-boy were my expectations delivered. One of the best books I've read this year.

This is not a hockey MM romance, not some [b:Heated Rivalry|41735449|Heated Rivalry (Game Changers #2)|Rachel Reid|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1539738291l/41735449._SY75_.jpg|65120637] cousin, but something more superior. It is the life story of two athletes that fell in love. A story about two stubborn characters, each in his own way, more different than night and day, that somehow found a way to make their relationship work, despite their challenges.

I loved it also because it had a message for all athletes out there.

The writing style felt strange at first, then grew on me until I fell in love with it completely.

These are all the words I have in me at the moment.
Fully recommended!

Thank you BogartBub for the book

I knew it was coming and I think that’s why I held off reading this one, but it seriously broke my heart for the last 10%. The last chapter was one of the hardest chapters I’ve ever read and it also took me the longest as I had to keep stopping to reset myself to continue. That being said, even though it’s still early in the year it will go down as one of the best books I’ve read this year.

The narration style took me a little to get into and then all of sudden I was well and truly hooked. I enjoyed that it took us through the lives of the guys and wasn’t restricted to one time.

Told from Mike’s perspective, we get to see the relationship progress from hook up to relationship, even if Mike refused to define it as such. He did the hard thing and did try and protect Liam from himself. He set him free numerous times in an attempt for him to get something better, to help his career when it was evident that Liam would stay. It was clumsy the way Mike did it but also so very him. I can’t believe he never actually told Liam he loved him and that doesn’t sit well with me.

I loved Liam. He was so full of life and you could see what attracted Mike to him. The fact that he stayed throughout Mike’s illness shows that deep metal of his personality as it’s hard to be a career for someone you love. I would have loved to have seen a bit more from his side especially what attracted him at the start to gruff enforcer but at the same time it was more powerful the little bit that was from his perspective.

I know I will read this again at some point and I look forward to seeing all the little things that you pick up on a second read, but I think that will be a bit further down the line.

Taylor Fitzpatrick you have a new fan

He gets Liam’s chin between his fingers, makes sure Liam’s looking him straight in the eye. “I am not your boyfriend, brat,” he says, slow, so that Liam can’t pretend not to understand him. “I am never going to be your boyfriend. If you want one, go find some naive idiot who’ll take you.”

Sooo, this was fucking painful.
I'm kinda mad at this book, at Mike and his stubborn ass, why can't you just say I love you and how fucking dare you die so young and leave Liam alone. I don't even know what I'm supposes to feel but I'm just angry.
