Wow! So much adventure! I am thrilled that I stumbled on Batgirl, Volume 1 among the mass of other comic books and graphic novels at Barnes and Noble. Gail Simone has created a complex, memorable female superhero. I love Batgirl's strong voice and her narration throughout the story. Her personality reminds me a little bit of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's. She's sassy, witty, and most of all, she has a deep passion for saving others.

I thought Volume 2 was better than Volume 1. I liked the different villains and their stories, as well as the characters who came to Batgirl's aid. The storyline was clear and layered. It had a great mix of personal and societal conflicts, with some unresolved, so that the reader looks forward to the conflicts and adventures featured in the next Volumes. Gail Simone also did a great job giving readers more information about Batgirl and the other characters with each volume (thus far), so that the story keeps moving.

Really, this was a treat.

Gotham easily has the most vigilantes, rogues and metahumans per capita of any comic book city but Gail Simone is more than capable of making room for a few new names and dealing with an old favorite. She has made Batgirl into a force equal to Nightwing and even though we don't get to see the Batfolks usual villains, there are some fine new additions to Gotham's underbelly and the Owls. And, then there's Jim Jr.

Very strong second volume of Gail Simone's Batgirl run. This series keeps hitting on a strong thematic depth and complex storylines. Batgirl is a fantastic character who is overcoming trauma every day. All of the storylines challenge get as a character and further develop her world. I also loved the Batwoman appearance of course, and the art and panel design in the last few issues was wonderfully executed.

I'm enjoying the new Batgirl series very much (aside from the sometimes questionable cover art, such as the illustration that graces the cover of this TPB--WTF, guys!?). Barbara has plenty of history and issues to chew on, and I'm a huge fan of not only her ability to kick ass, but also her ability to question, to be afraid, to wonder whether she is really ready to pursue her calling again. She's a well-rounded and identifiable character, and the inclusion of Black Canary and the Birds of Prey nod in this issue was fantastic. I devoured this and now need to go snag #3. Dang it.

I've been pretty underwhelmed by these Batgirl comics,I don't think superhero comics are for me really.

This volume is a great continuity of the previous volume. The mixture of episodic crime with a specific flow is matched by the slower pace overreaching story-line. The cast of characters are slowly development and the tease with other popular DC characters is very enjoyable.

I would recommend continuing with this comic and I cant wait to read the next volume.

This book would be so much better with lout the redundant and annoying inner monologue.

Also damaging and/or stealing private property is WRONG. It doesn't matter how much money the owner has. I thought you were a hero Babs? Batgirl's anti-rich people stance is especially hypocritical considering who she allies with!

This is a lot better than volume 1, and volume 1 is great! Full of action and a bit of suspense. The villains are interesting and I was never bored. We get to see a couple members of the Bat-family and a member of the Birds of Prey, which is always fun.

A story about Barbara Gordon becoming Batgirl (again) its very much a character driven story. I can see why some people complain about the baddies in this and volume one being meh, but for me that's not really the point. The point is how they relate to Batgirl and how she is developing as a character. That said, I didn't really think the bad guys were that bad, but if that is your focus you might not really get this book.

As far as the story goes, I really enjoyed how many female character Gail Simone incorporates into the story. Groups of capable females characters taking the lead on things is still not something I get to see every day - especially not done well. They each had their unique roll to play, some for good, some for bad. What a revolutionary concept!

Moving along to the artwork, perhaps I'm just getting used to it but it didn't seem quite so pervy. The covers are simply ridiculous though! Batgirl defying all sorts of laws of nature to kick in all sorts of provocative directions! Her mother also went from looking like her clone on volume 1 to looking old and frumpy in volume 2 and sewage water glowed Caribbean blue.
