Unfortunately this book wasn't for me and that is mostly due to the handling of the law enforcement. The fmc is a disgraced cop, turned PI who is very vocal about how law enforcement needs to be abolished, because it's rotten from the core and nothing can fix it. But the story itself sets out to show the reader that it's #notallcops and despite all her misgivings the fmc chooses to continue working as a consultant for the cops.
And unfortunately the fmc ends up starting a relationship with the Captain, making it a cop romance.
For queer & bipoc people it's #acab
I really liked Seamus, Jolie and Anya and I would have loved to see more about them. The whole law enforcement angle unfortunately just isn't my vibe.
