Part 2 of Marta legacy, story about how 3 generations are struggling with similar relationships with their mothers. Hildermara Rose granddaughter Dawn feels uncomfortable having to choose between her mother and grandmother so she creates an opportunity for all 3 to be together, deal with past wounds. I liked Carolyn’s description of meeting Jesus. I also liked how her personal experiences inspired the story
I thoroughly enjoyed both books in this series, although the first was probably my favorite. I like the time period of WWII and after a lot better than the 60's, free love and Vietnam. Still, these were both wonderful books. I loved following the stories of these women through the generations and seeing how things unfold for them. If you enjoy Christian fiction or have read Francine Rivers before and liked her books, I highly recommend these :)
great resolution to 'her mother's hope.' i personally liked the first book better but really appreciated how this wrapped everything up. there was so much redemption...love it. classic francine rivers. :)
Have you ever gone sledding, and the first few seconds are great and intense, and then suddenly you lose momentum and you are still several feet from the bottom of the hill? That's how this book made me feel, and I only really realized it at the end. Her Mother's Hope really impacted me, but it was because Marta and Hildie were fleshed in so much. Her Daughter's Dream was scattered with too many characters. I hardly got to know Carolyn, and then there was Dawn, and there was still Hildie and Marta in the background. I never felt as invested in Carolyn and Dawn as in the others.
When Marta was given a voice once again at the end, I felt that she was a long-lost friend and I really had missed her. That's when I started feeling that maybe the past holds the richest characters, because there were so many obstacles to overcome in order to thrive. Marta had the spunk that made her character deep and interesting.

This is the second book in the Marta’s legacy duo. These books follow 4 generations of mothers and daughters and show the effects of generational trauma. I cannot recommend these enough. I was SO invested in these books and wish i could reread them for the first time again. Absolutely amazing!
Just so good. I’m nursing a headache from all the tears. What an amazing saga! Loved it so much.

I loved the ending of the book and seeing everything from the first book through the end of this one coming to fruition. It made me think about my relationship with my mom, my mom and grandma, and my Meme and her mom. I also thought a lot about my kids and the legacy I am passing down to them (last time, I didn't have kids). I read this 10 years ago and gave it a hearty 5 stars. This time, I felt like there was a lot of unnatural/cheesy Christian dialogue. I absolutely loved Her Mother's Hope this time, but I was more aware of the preachy-ness in this sequel. I wish that it would have followed the same lines as the first one. We could see God working in Marta and Hildie, but there wasn't the overt "Christianese".
