Jake is a total dick in this book, and the plot is confusing. Adrien, honey, go find someone who actually likes you. I like his adopted extended family, though. Just lots and lots of characters all thrown into this story. (This is probably my fault for reading three books in two days, though.)

While I often say I would kill to work in a bookstore, I would like to take a moment to mention that I am kidding. I would not kill. And neither would I want to be killed, so I'm pretty sure I'll pass on working for Adrien.
That being said, another exciting story. Of course, Jake is a dick and I am annoyed about the romance love life but yeah, that's what the author was intending. Also, it prompted me to buy the next ebook in the series and I'm just going to start that now.

Although the plot was excellent I have to admit to being "bummed" a little by failure of Adrien's awkward relationship with Jake.

I felt really invested in this book. Much more than I was in the others. Sad but good.

Literally me, when a toxic romance turns out to be toxic af

I think this series is a consistent 3.5 to me, but what's funny it's that it's never in the same way. I really liked book 1's mystery and the hint at a relationship between Adrien and Jake. Then book 2's mystery wasn't my cup of tea but I appreciated the development between the two. Here? The mystery was fun (gotta love Satan) but the relationship aspect had me grumbling. I am not sure this series is even a romance at this point, because what the fuck do you do with a Jake Riordan??? Just like Adrien, I hoped he would grow and accept himself but that man is filled with so much self hatred and repressed homophobia no one can save him at this point. I felt for Adrien though, his track record of boyfriend fucking sucks. I really like him, but boy does he needs to grow a spine when it comes to men, what do you mean your secret lover who is deeply ashamed of you tells you he got his girlfriend pregnant and you just accept it and keep seeing him?? Jake is the one who broke it off when he announced he was getting married. crazy!!! Adrien babe!! Yet, somehow, I am stuck in between wishing better for Adrien (which is easy because book 1-3 Jake is bottom of the barrel) and rooting for them because I do think their chemistry is great.
Another love interest appeared here and I do not care a single bit for him. I don't know if it's because I know how this goes and I cheer for endgame which is not Mr Guy Snowden, or because I genuinely didn't like this man. I think both. But eh. Time to read book 4 and pray for a Jake Riordan miraculous redemption. But if this man hurts my baby Adrien again... *sharpens knives*

Spoiler
The guy's been having a long-term relationship with a woman that started before he even met Adrien. He is also active on the gay BDSM scene. In this book, he learns that his girlfriend is pregnant, so he decides to break things off with Adrien to get married. FUCK HIM hfdusjq All this unprotected sex and being an asshole for this??Another love interest appeared here and I do not care a single bit for him.
