I've really enjoyed this series so far and am anxiously awaiting the fourth novel. The characters are engrossing, the plots well-conceived, and the writing style is clear and unique.

This is the 3rd Adrien English mystery and I think it suffers a bit from an attempt to be too ordinary. People read books to escape from reality so books that set out to be as real as possible can often be a bit of a bore. This book suffers from that a bit, but it was still an interesting read. The book is as much about the amateur sleuthing of the main character as is his personal life. Of the course the two mix, perhaps too coincidentally, which goes against the attempts to be real.

ok this one was good, really good. This time i liked the murder/mystery plot. I was interested and actually wanted to know how the murder would be unraveled. I'm terribly fond of Adrien and he is the only reason I'm still reading, I won't stop until he is happy. Now, on the other hand, Jake can choke for all i care! I'm so glad Adrien finally stood up for himself and i can't wait to see how he will redeem himself to Adrien and to ME!!!! Much groveling to do

Rep: gay mcs (maybe bi idk Jake doesn't know either)

  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I don't know. I'm really disappointed in Jake...

I really don't know why I am continuing this series. Maybe I'm just curious how or if they can fix this?

Alright so this book was the start of when the series kind of went down hill for me. It was no longer interesting, their relationship was in a constant state of fights, denial, make up, fight, denial. But I kept reading to find out what would happen with these two.
