This book was amazing! I personally thought it was a great sequel to Let the Sky Fall.

I love how it shows Vane adapting to being King of the Gales, all while tracking down Audra, and trying to defeat Raiden. I also loved how it showed Audra struggling to find herself, and realizing that she needs to go home, to Vane. That they simply couldn't be without each other.

I also liked how all of the teens in the book, acted like teens. Not 8 yrs old, but not 30 yrs old. I feel like in a lot of fantasy/dystopian books, the teens in it either act extremely young and immature or way too old to be a 17-year-old.

I did get EXTREMELY ANNOYED with Solana. I feel like Shannon felt like there HAD to be a love triangle and kinda forced it into the story. The whole betrothal thing didn't really fit the story, and Solana was just very, idk how to even word it. She obviously saw that Vane loved Audra and not her, but she kept trying to pursue him anyways which really annoyed me. The fact that she also slept with Vane.... okay listen, I know that she was just trying to calm his dreams, but still.

Age Rating: 12+

Many kisses. Characters sleep with each other, but one on top of the covers and one under the covers. Mild swearing.

Let the Storm Break is Shannon Messenger's second book in the Sky Fall Trilogy. I listened to it as an audiobook, which was as captivating as the first book. Once again, I love it when they have a narrator for each character's POV.

If you have read some of my other reviews, you will know that I tend to struggle with second books, but Let the Storm Break was relatively good. The pace was kept up, and the story kept moving forward, which meant that it actually held my attention. There were a few twists I didn't see coming, and I found myself on the edge of my seat, wanting to keep listening to see what would happen next. This unpredictability kept it interesting.

Despite the twists, it was still somewhat predictable...

There's definitely a lot more action, which made me more eager to read than the first book.
Although the romance kind of annoys me more and I find it ridiculous that they can fight about bonding and all that right before a freaking war.

My full review can be found on the Epilie Aspie Chick blog!

The entire series is told in a dual narrative, which felt organic and necessary for the first two stories. In the first book, you see Audra as a guardian and Vane as a guy who learns what he is. In the second book, they're separated and working towards different goals. In the third, it feels pointless because the reason for the different perspectives isn't as essential.

"There is power in pain."

The sequel to let the sky fall is...I would say darker anda bit more..gritty than the first. It definitely deals with some darker themes, in my opinion, with the way it talks about how to use and inflict...pain on others and harness it. And the wind...yeah.. But that is not the focus, the focus of the book is, not just the relationship between Vane and Audra, but the world and the battle that must occur. The fight for their lives did not end, it has only just begun. Both are trying to figure out how to deal with their new predictament in different ways. This has caused their relationship to be...tested,to say theleast... I also loved learning more about the wind in thisbook and their nature. The writing of course was easy to followa long with and you immediately just sucked back into the world like a vortex. The action/drama in thisbook is pretty good. The action scenes feel only slgihtly rushed, but only because thats not the main main focus of the book. BUt the drama can be a bit intense, if not amusing. Its intriguing to follow each of the characters inner struggles and thoughts throughout this book. Audra is dealing with stuff, about who she was, who she is, and what she wants to be. She is, trying to findher place in this world, and with Vane. Vane is also struggling with his new identity and how to fit it into his old world. My heart yearns and aches for them. And to know their battle is far fromover.... Alright, thats enough rambling. If you want your own opinion, read the book.

Eh the beginning was slow for me.

Let the Storm Break is the second addition to the Sky Fall series. In it, Vane is now officially the king. He is dealing with a lot on his place - which most king's do. Then there's Audra, who is also dealing with a lot. She's finding more information about Raiden which were intriguing. At this point, I was getting a smidge more invested.

At one point, they are reunited which made me happy. Unfortunately, the happy moment didn't last long because they had to kick some ass. Ugh, these two are something. I liked this book, even though the beginning was kind of meh. I'm also slightly hesitant to dive into the next book because I don't want to end up disappointed.

Overall, it wasn't completely predictable which worked in it's favor. Will definitely see if I can get a hold of the next book just so I don't have to wait to see what's going to happen next!

I think I definitely liked the first book better, but I did enjoy the new characters and the analysis of good people having to do bad things to stop bad people from doing worse things. A nice perspective and different angle from the usually righteousness in these types of books, although there was plenty of that too. A nice sequel with plenty of teenage angst, I'll read the third one, and overall a nice story, but nothing special.
