I’ve never read something written so poetically. It pulled me in and kept me.
I found a story of a mother, who while the world was falling apart, became the whole world to the child she bore. She kept on living for her child, even after her husband seemed to have given up on them and left. The thought that this new, strange, terrifying simple world was still enough for a mother to raise a child and find contentment in it.

I understand where the author was going with the poetic style and the use of letters instead of names. I just found myself not being able to fully immerse into the story because I wanted MORE. Overall the story was lovely, sad, and a bit confusing due to the lack of “meat” in the writing.

Listened to audiobook. Very quick read. Poetic and haunting; a quiet story about a natural disaster.

It’s giving Private Rites meets The Children of Men.

This was okay. I enjoyed the disjointed way it was written, interweaving flashbacks, current day and the protagonists thoughts.

It just wasn’t all that interesting, I think it’s been done and done better. Would be somewhat intrigued to see wha they’ve done with the film because as of rn I’m not sure it’s interesting enough to be one.

This was an interesting little read. I think if there was more of it and more description of the dystopian/apocalyptic elements, I’d connect with it more.
