Five stars times 1000 Sam Brennan was everything a monster could be and more. I loved seeing his childhood and all the things he went through were very raw and traumatic. I love even seeing Troy and sparrow as grown parents again Troy will forever be my number one mafia boss man. Aisling it’s such a great heroine as well because she cares for everyone and takes the brute force of all the family without anyone even really knowing that she is caring for everyone. Her secrets with her career were kind of a different take on being a monster as well and I liked how they did that. The angst and back-and-forth and sexy tension between the two was very nicely done. LJShen always serves me up correctly and I absolutely love the story. I love seeing all the girls for the Boston bells crew kind of coming together again as well.
Beautiful broken bound souls together story .
Would definitely recommend and will probably re-read again and again .

No no no.
DIGGA.
Shen Buch.

I feel like he 100% needed to grovel more.

1.5 star

There is nothing to find. Life is not about finding yourself. It's about creating yourself. There's something liberating about knowing your own bones, all the things you are capable of. Being unapologetically yourself makes you invincible.

Dear God, NO.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for these books! I loved Sam and Aisling's story so much!

I really like LJ Shen’s Vicious serie & co, was quite fine with the Monster but this one was not my kind of jam.
I liked the fact that the heroine was already in love with Sam since the first time they met and it would have been good to see him progressively changing while interacting with her.
But no, the man only react when he can loose her for real. And pretend he was waiting for her and thinking about her all along ...
And I’m surprised to say this but I really disliked the sex scenes. There was no real tension, just some guy taking what is offered and being mean just after.
Even if she finally put a stop to these behaviours, I wasn’t convince and I didn’t believe their happy ending

I really, really enjoyed this one. It wasn’t able to hold my attention all the way through (hit a bit of a valley around 75/80%) so I had to read this in spurts, but overall I really liked it.

Yes, these characters and their relationship had plenty of toxic moments, but it was an enjoyable read & kept me entertained.

This is Sam and Aisling’s story and it feels like I’ve waited forever. Sam Brennan is the man I’ve wanted to know more about since Sparrow and Ainsley Fitzpatrick is easily the most intriguing of the ladies. She’s so reserved, we don’t know her at all. I was worried that I was building this up too much so it would be a letdown. I liked The Villain, Cillian and Persephone, but not as much as Hunter and Sailor and their story so it was a valid fear.

Those fears were completely unfounded. These two are stellar and their story is epic.

It started out almost predictable: Aisling is pining for Sam, he ignores her. She still lives at home at twenty-seven, taking care of her needy, histrionic mother. She seems weak but the truth she’s hiding under the gracious demeanor is very different. Don’t mistake kindness or selflessness for weakness, they’re not the same thing and Ainsley Fitzpatrick is an excellent example.

Sam is every bit as cold and calculated as expected, at first but we slowly learn that he’s long had feelings for her, he’s just fought them every step of the way. There’s a lot of Troy and especially Sparrow parenting Sam in this book and I loved it. The idea of these people who raised a stone-cold killer pulling the “A mother knows” card on him could easily crash and burn if not done right but Shen knocked it out of the park.

There’s much more to this story than possibly-unrequited love. Much unfolds to show us who Ainsley truly is and it’s shocking but impressive. She’s a complete badass and capable of much more than I imagined. To say she gives the infamous mobster a run for his money is a major understatement and nobody was more shocked – or pleased – to see it than Sam. It’s also worth noting that there’s way more backstory to these two than I’d guessed and I loved everything about it. Their initial interactions were fascinating and it gave the story more depth. The banter is excellent and these two are also super steamy, too.

I couldn’t put this book down, devouring it in record speed and loving every minute of the story. Their love story is one of my favorites and their lives are interesting enough that LJ could easily give us a sequel. Yeah, yeah, I know it won’t happen but a girl can dream, right? There was a lot going on here but it all made sense and there are some real surprises from the supporting cast. This instantly became one of my favorite LJ books and I’ll enjoy reading it again as much as I did the first time.

Favorite quote:
“You are dumb. But it’s okay. You’re hot and
ooze that look-at-me-I’m-dangerous vibe, so I’m sure you’ll find someone.”

“Don’t forget rich.”

“Not by my standards. Just try not to make conversation. You’re not very good at it.”

“Based on you dry humping my leg like a bitch in heat five seconds ago, I’m sure I’ll be able to keep them entertained some other way.”

i don't think i am reading the 4th one...
