Have you ever read a graphic novel that, as you reached the end, you sat back and was overwhelmed by the sheer quality of it? Hirohiko Araki's Rohan at the Louvre qualifies as one of those graphic novels for me. It is a visually stunning love letter to the most famous art museum in the world, the Louvre, as well as the manga medium in general. If this is just a sample of what Hirohiko Araki can do, it boggles my mind that more of his work isn't available in English. Or shall we be doomed to be limited to Jojo's Bizarre Adventures and this?

Note: My knowledge of Jojo’s is this – there are people and stands.
So, armed with my lack of knowledge and my sister’s desire to have me read this, I decided to give it a shot. I’m happy I did. The art style, colors, and panels were amazing, so much so that I had to reread several pages throughout because it was distracting (in a good way). The story was straightforward, and even if it took a while to get to the action scenes, I didn’t feel like I was waiting forever. I think if I knew the characters and main story more, I would have a deeper appreciation for this. That said, I’d still pick it up again for an easy read.

Def not for non Jojo fans. Reading this without Jojo context, I can see becoming fairly confusing (as to why you should care). Like why is this 17-year-old mangaka with biZARre reading powers visiting the louvre to view a painting that unleashes your dead loved ones seeking revenge for their deaths... it's Jojo

This as a physical book is so stunning, daddy Araki sensei please illustrate my life. The colour palette was so beautiful, transgressing into slightly differing tones and colours as parts of the story progressed. The horror elements at the end were GORGEOUS. Again, pls illustrate my death.

The story itself didn't really matter to me, I got my Jojo fave for an entire novel in an artsy, pretentious setting. It's my vibe. The blackest painting in the world was a really cool concept, wish there was a bit more Jojo finesse with the power of the painting, but it was solid nonetheless. I like the spider reference... I'll never forget husbando Rohan munching on that spider like it was mamma's Sunday roast dinner in front of Koichi kun. It was so nice to see Koichi and the gang too.

If you love Araki and Jojo, particularly Rohan, it's a must. If not, I can see how it'd be a bust. But she do be stunning tho no matter what

Rohan hears of a mysterious painting and visits the Louvre to track it down. A delightful, gory, and surprisingly straight stand-alone adventure with plenty of excellent poses and a very brief cameo by some familiar faces from Morioh.

L'univers d'Araki m'avait manqué!
