This series just brings you further into the conspiracy. Love how each character has their own story. Not like other series like this where the story feels the same no matter which character it is about.

They all have their own story that also is part of a bigger picture. Cannot wait for the next one.

Lexi Blake and Shayla Black are just about my favorite writing duo - they have to be to create a series that just ended up on the my list of "Wish I had started this one after ALL the books were out" - A list with a single series on it - The Perfect Gentlemen because it is the only series that has continuing ARC - which means that while HEAs are the norm for each book but the suspense is on going which means that whole mystery ISN'T solved until all the characters get their HEAs - which is so damn frustrating, let me tell you!

"It was so funny that he’d come to New Orleans thinking that he could get back at her. Now he only wanted to get her back."

Six guys went to the same prep school together, Gabe, Dax, Connor, Zach, Roman and Maddox (Mad). This is Dax's story.

The story of Dax and Holland picks up where Scandal Never Sleeps leaves off - with Dax going back to the one woman who made him feel alive and the one woman who almost destroyed him.

First told in flashbacks, we get to see the fledgling relationship between Dax and Holland blossom - Holland being the a friend of the now deceased First Lady and Dax being the friend of the now President of USA.

Dax ropes in Holland, a DEA agent in trying to find out the truth behind the scandalous suicide of his father - which with the evidence he refuses to believe in.

And Holland being her, she jumps right in and then jump at each other :D

But with forces beyond their imaginations at play, they are ripped apart, with Dax committing the biggest mistake of his life the next day!

“You’re the woman for me. I’ve never forgotten you, not once since the moment we met."

This is the type of Second Chance romance that I ADORE to read - although the angst is even too emotional even for me to handle.

Dax is the typical Alpha Male that I have come to adore from this writing duo - honestly I could NOT find even a single problem with him and believe me, I really looked.

Holland, again is the strong female character that only someone with his duo's caliber could write - she is independent, strong and intelligent. While she adores her Dax, it doesn't mean that she isn't willing to do everything in her power to protect him - and the decision she made, every agonizing minute of her reaching that decision, I could feel.

But the BEST PART in this book? The fact that the moment they are reunited, the main reason for their misunderstandings (or rather, Dax's!) is now out in the open and all they need to do is work back on their issues, while trying to stay alive, to Ground Zero: Their Love <3
Perfectly done, indeed :D

"Even when I was pissed as hell at you, I still knew that you were the center of my world. You have been since the day I met you."

Perfect addition to this series, and has the right amount of mystery unveiled, to keep me invested in the series.

Which goes to show, that this was definitely written by MASTERS (or is it MISTRESSES?)

I didn't love the then and now set up of this book but I truly loved the story.

This is the third installment of the Perfect Gentlemen series and to understand what's going on you should definitely read the first two books.

The general plot doesn't really advance a lot in this book because it's more focused on a different part of the events, specifically regarding Dax's father and the fact that the Russian mob is keeping an eye on every one and is ready to cut down any who stick their noses where they shouldn't.
In the end we gain a new name to investigate and the crew leave for London to further look into Zach's mother's death.

I loved Holland and Dax together, the mystery, the investigation and their second chances romance. I hated what Dax did to her, but I also understood the reason: he was devastated, he was drunk and he lashed out. It took him a while to understand the real reason why Holland couldn't seem to forgive him... he's lucky he has friends who made him see the light.

I also have to say that I fell in love with Gus.
She's such a strong character, unashamed of who she is, working for what she wants, proud of herself. And I was happy to see the PG accepting her for who she is instead of engaging in the usual "if you're a man and you sleep around, you're a hero, if you're a woman and you sleep around, you're a s**t".
No, the PG love Gus, respect her both personally and professionally. They are actually a bit afraid of her! Her story with Roman will be so much fun to read!

3.5 STARS!

So, what happened?

The book was good, in a slowly kind of way, because it was not until the last 50% that it really picked up for me, so I got a little bored, and it frustrated the hell out of me because I LOVE these men, and I really was expecting more from Dax :(.

I missed the witty banter the authors have got me used to between the main characters, also, the lack of mystery and conspiracy that make this series so interesting for me, was a little disappointing. I just got a glimpse of that in the last chapters, so yeah, I'm a little gutted.

I have not lost faith in this series. I'm pretty sure Gus will give me a hell of a good time in the next book, she is the character that made this book for me. Sorry Dax, I still love you but your book... not so much.

Anyway, I will be here waiting for Gus. See you soon my Perfect Gentlemen.

DNF @ 35%

I wanted to like this one so bad. Unfortunately, it was too slow for my liking. Add to it the lack of chemistry between Dax and Holland made the decision to DNF this an easier one.
