I enjoyed the book. I watched the movie many times and finally decided to read the book. The movie was a good adaptation. I was able to get through the book relatively quickly because it was still entertaining even though I watched the movie first.

I went into this blind so, the main villain of this book NOT being Dr. Hannibal Lecter was hilarious to realize. Loved him being the creeper in the background though, constantly sending mail to Will. Pretty impressive to see him outsmart people from the inside. I enjoyed how Harris wrote his characters, they had depth. Molly and Reba were so well written and badass and Freddy... oh Freddy. Just foul. Dolarhyde really did a number on him. His backstory was so fucking sad, it's no wonder he's a nut. This book had a lot of jaw dropping moments. Ending included. Will Graham seems to have the worst fucking luck, judging by what we see from him here and what is implied from the snippets of his past that they do mention. Poor dude can't catch a damn break
