Picked this up because I've been enjoying the TV series "Hannibal", which draws from this book. Not an adaptation, since the events of "Hannibal" take place before the events of this book.

Honestly, if I'd picked this up without having already read "Silence of the Lambs" or watched "Hannibal", I'd be pretty unimpressed. Most of the characters read quite flat - even Will Graham, who they've made into an amazing character in the TV series, is just kind of boring here, with no real special talents. The only shining point is Lecter himself.

Glad to have read it, though, but will likely never come back and reread.

Wanted to read this because of the nbc show, and honestly i didn't know what to expect. Definitely different vibes from the series, but overall i enjoyed it, though the fact that I already knew and loved (some) characters helped and made the experience better for me. Some parts were a bit hard to understand, but i think that may be the translations fault.
