Another book I had way too high expectations for. I did enjoy this and I will carry on the series, I just expected more.

In parts this did drag. It's also slightly annoying that
the murders weren't solved, they were rather revealed
, but hey ho!

Lecter really is an amazing character.

Really good book. I'll admit, I only started reading it because I started watching Hannibal (and am obsessed with it). There are some similarities between the book and show, but for the most part, they're both their own monster. I'm not really big into "investigation" books, but this one is so incredibly unique and sick that there were very few times that I wanted to put it down. Thomas Harris has a real knack for keeping the reader interested, and I just really loved this book.

I enjoyed "Red Dragon." It's a bit on the gory/violent side but I'm ok with that in a novel. The plot and pacing are fined and the characters well rounded and believable. Harris' prose never gets in the way of telling the story. The writing is crisp, without a lot of stylistically driven mumbo jumbo.
In short a good read, if you like serial killer police procedurals. It would make a fine beach read or if you're snowed in. Not a world shaking masterpiece but a fine read nonetheless.

I'm finally starting with this series, and honestly, I didn't know what to expect from it. The story is very interesting, and I read it every free moment. It took hold of me and didn't let me go for almost the whole time. I liked all the little twists and getting to also know the killer through some chapters of the book. The end wasn't surprising, and I didn't really vibe with it much. It was a very nice, very interesting read, but I needed something just a little more to get it to 5 stars. But I can't wait to read the next one.
