I learned a lot about Lou, but the author has an annoying tendency to presume to know what Lou was thinking. Just give me the man's life story; don't tell me what you think was going through his head (the fact that he thanks his psychotherapist in the acknowledgements was NOT a good sign).

A very detailed account of Lou Reed! Anthony DeCurtis goes in to exquisite detail of Lou's life and music, so much so that I began to wonder if he needed to go SO deep in to every record and song he made and wrote and where his life and relationships were at the time, on top of his life events. However, I began to realize that Lou's work cannot be separated from his life - his work and art are his legacy.

It is not a 'quick read' (an account of someone's life shouldn't be), but if you're up for it you won't be disappointed.
