This was one of those books that you buy because you found the synopsis interesting, you get home, but the book stays on a shelf and it dies there for all eternity. Why? I don't know. But I'm very happy that I "found" this book again.

This book was a complete surprise for me. When I had to put it down, I was thinking about what would happen next. The writing was very addictive. The story was very addictive.

I really enjoyed the way the author wrote about the reality show's backstage. All the stuff that was happening and the viewers didn't know. But most of all I loved the duology of the storylines: the past alongside the present; our main character being completely oblivious to what was evident (completely in denial); the ending - I loved the ending.

This is definitely not a “summer read,” but it was the best read I did all summer.

This book had me from the first line. Claustrophobic, tense and overwhelming. I have zero interest in reality tv shows, but was fascinated which how the author showed the manipulation of footage for the audience, which dovetailed nicely with the overall perception vs reality theme. Production team labels showing internet racism and bias in viewers. Zoos worry about motherhood, When she ended up becoming a defacto mom. Felt really bad about her guilt about being ready- she’s the child of a narcissist, of course she doesn’t feel ready. I wish she could have talked about that with her husband before leaving.  Lots to unpack for a thriller novel. Will read again.
