Im Afraid of Men and all that comes in a world that loves masculinity. 

This book left me thinking about my past experiences with men, whether it was related to something violent or "good". A quick read but also reflective and honestly, if youre upset by the title, read it.

This was a really fascinating read for me. I felt like I was nodding my head until the end when the writer challenges the female reader (me) and I had to do some major internal reflection. I wish everyone would read this book to expand their understanding of the different human experiences that exist.

An important read (or in this case, listen - which is a great option as it’s read by the author). Lots of tidbits that made me say “huh” or nod my head in agreement. Vivek says that many of the anecdotes she relays are minor but I think that’s the important part. It doesn’t have to be a sweeping horrific tragic story in order to see the impact. It’s the little everyday aggressions or even micro-aggressions.

Wow, this was short but very well done. It gave me a very intimate look into the experience of being a trans woman, especially a BIPOC trans woman. On top of that, it was also a reckoning with the patriarchy, and Vivek Shraya challenged me to examine the gender binary, as well as the morality and standards placed upon men and women. I especially appreciated the short section where she talks about what makes a "good man", and how we can free ourselves and our partners from patriarchal ideals that are rooted in white supremacy and Christian evangelicalism. Just a really thought-provoking and intimate read that I wish was longer.

I can't recommend this book enough, regardless of who you are. I listened to the audiobook, which was read by the author and, in my opinion, highlighted her way with words.
