It sounds blasphemous to say that I just don’t love James Baldwin’s books, but I don't think I do.
I don’t love the way he portrays female characters, this book in particular is quite misogynistic and all the characters are horrible people. There were portions of the book and certain passages that I actually really loved, but they weren’t enough to sway my opinion of the book overall. I can appreciate his prose and the powerful impact James Baldwin had as a writer in history, but I just find it hard to resonate with his works

There’s a Bojack Horseman quote that fits Another Country perfectly. “Time’s arrow neither stands still nor reverses. It merely marches forward.” Loved this book so much.
