I found that there were a lot of parallels between Jane Eyre and Pamela by Samuel Richardson. Because of this, I can’t help but compare the two, though they definitely had their differences, for which I believe led me to enjoy Jane Eyre a little more. For one example, I liked that Mr. Rochester was less rapey than the love interest of Pamela, though both young women were in similar situations.

This wasn’t my favourite classic, but my experience with it was positive nonetheless
