Entertaining and thought-provoking, as well as incredibly amusing in more than a few parts. I certainly could not have asked for more.

Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. For slavophil, devout Orthodox Catholic Dostoevsky, incarceration is actually the last thing one should fear when playing God. It’s the humiliating and debilitating psychological anguish, so exquisitely narrated that you’re not sure if you should look away!!!!!

Some of my favorite moments: Svidrigailov’s Inception scene, Marmeladov’s funeral, every conversation with Porfiry… That last line (before Epilogue) was also literally so telenovela-coded

If I was an 1800s Russian peasant this would be an incredible book. But because I'm not, it's way too long.

That being said, it is a fascinating study of guilt and definitely deserves to be one of the great works of literature.
