ok unpopular opinion: i preferred this book over the 1st one.
I like the mystery in this one a lot more, I felt like it played out in an interesting way.

Kinda slow in the beginning but once it really got going it was a great time.
I liked Pip's character development throughout. I wish Ravi did a bit more! I kinda miss their duo energy, he felt a bit like an assistant in this.

Lauren and Ant can go suck an egg.

WHEN PIP POURED A DRINK ON TOM, PUSHED ANT INTO LOCKERS AND VANDALISED MAX'S HOUSE AFTER LEAKING HIS CONFESSION... QUEEN SHIT I TELL U

Charlie's plan is ruined if Child Brunswick is happily married tho

mysterious and interesting. after AGGTM, this book takes some of the consequences of the last and manages to be a consistent and coherent follow-up.

pip isn’t my favorite character
- she can be a little insensitive to some of her co-characters (especially Nat!) and has inexplicably become an expert at police investigative procedures without development of those skills. i would have loved a chapter or two of her enjoying casual researching on investigations, just so her almost over-professional knowledge is explained better. that also would have made a fantastic contrast with the end, where she experiences this from a different side, as a direct witness. either way, pip’s mental health and the way it is discussed were very strong points in this book.

i enjoyed how the different characters were introduced and how a new mystery was developed without entirely neglecting the first. that was impressive and really immersive.

This was a great second book and I can’t wait to read the third. Pip and Ravi being back at another case should feel the same, but there was something about this time that just felt more dark and gritty. I’m happy the author doesn’t water down the story for a more YA feel, the story is just as I could imagine it in adult fiction just with a YA cast.
A perfect book for fall.

Crying score: yup

Jackson does it again in the sequel to AGGGTM. Pippa once again investigates as her friends older brother goes missing and the police won't investigate. In this new installment Pippa is determined to rescue her friends brother and return him safely. This new book retains all the joy and intrigue of the first while remaining different from the first books story. The only way this is really bad though is because Sal is in this book way less than the first unfortunately. I am so excited to see where Jackson takes the story into the second and accompanying novella.
