Is this  truly a five-star I don’t know, but it made me cry like a lot so that Has to count for something. I just really enjoyed this and I just really like pip. It was very mysterious and also kind of creepy. I did kind of guess one plot but like that doesn’t decrease anything for me. I don’t know I think I just read this at the perfect time I still can’t even believe I cried

I don’t care how inept a police department is, they’re not going to sit around and let an 18 year old girl and her high school friends traipse through potential crime scenes, create search parties, and investigate a possible missing person/murder. It’s wildly unbelievable and yet, somehow, you forget all of that and just pay attention to the fact that Pip has an uncanny way of reading the clues to solve big puzzles no one else can.

Jackson has delivered something fast, intense, and a perfect mystery. Worthy of the halls of Ware, Hawkins, and Brown. This book is a great second book in a trilogy meant to scratch an itch that hasn't been well done for YA until now. The only hang up? This book should not exist.

After solving a famous murder and disappearance in her small town, Pip has become semi famous. With half a million listeners tuning into her podcast each week she has an army at her fingertips. So when her friends brother goes missing she is compelled by his distraught mother to step in and once again solve the case. Meanwhile, the towns pretty facade is starting to crack under pressure. And what they are willing to abide, and what they're not, will show some truly horrific true colors.

The very foundation of this story is unlikely and confusing. A distruaght, middle-class mother begging a literal teen to find her son? Already we are off to shaky start. Then as the evidence piles up, it's clear the police would have wanted to be involved from the start - if only to cover their own.

If you put aside the Scooby Doo of it all, the book is a fun read. It's well written and will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. The parts that are the most well written and heart breaking are the parts that were most believable. Where we are allowed to see the towns values and code. There was nothing to doubt there. I continue to love Pip and Ravi and though I had to suspend belief here, I can't wait to dive into the next one.
