I really love this trilogy and all the main characters and their paranormal abilities, but honestly, the chaos in the last 10-15% of the book was a little letdown for me until I got to the part where Aris says, "Hello, Sweetbrier, I’ve finally found you."
I genuinely sighed in relief at that moment.

If it weren't for that chaos (iykyk), it would have definitely been a 5-star read. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the supernatural world of Belladonna and I'm excited to read Holly.

I had such high hopes for this but I really didn't enjoy it, sadly.

There is a character who is meant to be attractive and sympathetic but who I found so toxic and cruel. This character treats another abominably, taking away their agency, ignoring their wishes and physically restraining and silencing them and then...much later...has learnt NOTHING and acts the same way again (and also curses someone that character loves, without their knowledge or approval). And the reader is meant to like this character. It really made me uncomfortable.

This also needed another proofread. The paperback copy has incorrect words ("bobbles" on page 132 should presumably be "baubles"), a speechmark typing error (on page 384) and a sentence that seems to cut off midway through ("So still was Aris that, could she not feel the pulse of his wrist beneath her." on page 169).

Although I enjoyed the previous two books a lot more I did find the writing style a little clunky at times; its attempts to sound old-fashioned and poetic did not always work well. Because I enjoyed the story in this one less the writing style bothered me more.

One other (small) thing is I think it's a bit strange naming a village Hateno (like in the Zelda games).

Ugly crying on my living room floor....again.

My favorite out of the three. Although a little over the top sometimes, I appreciate Blythe’s fire. I like that this revolved more around self discovery than a mystery plot although there were mystery elements.

Also, if you listen to the audiobook at all, Sol’s character voice sounds just like Moaning Myrtle 🤣
